Owners, Hosts, and Residents

HomePods.ORG searches for and improves upon the design of micro-dewellings for people who are homeless. We also seek owners and hosts willing to provide spaces where these micro-dwellings can be placed. People and organizations might even purchase them for purposes completely unrelated to homelessness. The combination of housing the estimated one billion homeless people worldwide along with purchases for other uses will encourage manufacturers to create ever better designs, which will again benefit the Homeless.

A home for everyone.

Owners

Owners are people or organizations who have purchased one or more micro-dwellings from a manufacturer or retailer.

They:

  • may or may not have anything to do with homelessness.
  • may do whatever they chose with their HomePod(s).
  • are not obligated to anyone.

Hosts are people or organizations who may or may not own a micro-dwelling, but have chosen to allow one or more micro-dwellings to be placed upon their property for the benefit of residents.

They:

  • abide by parameters set out by the micro-dwelling owner.
  • may provide access to utilities, washroom, and kitchen facilities in keeping with their agreement with the micro-dwelling owner.

A home for everyone.

That’s the goal.

Everyone should have a place to call their own, sheltered from the elements, with a bed to sleep in and a measure of privacy.

HomePods.ORG aspires to provide the basics. While still not sufficient for many, we dream of it being an option for anyone who wants it, anywhere  in the world.

We hope to prove that building HomePods can be profitable by demonstrating the vast market that exists.
